Make Yoga Not War
How Many Ways Can You Celebrate Yourself?
About Vanessa
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.  -Anais Nin

Yoga has been a source of joy and celebration in my life from my first downward dog in 1998.  Yoga had me from  "hello!" with its abundant benefits, including strength, peace, confidence and balance. My first teachers were: Ron Reid, Rodney Yee, Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty (founders of Yoga Works), Richard Freeman, Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane. In 2001 I did my 500 level teacher training at Downward Dog Yoga Center in Toronto.

My love of yoga led me all over the world to study with illuminating teachers. In 2002 I moved to Thailand to study Thai Yoga Massage with Asokananda Bruust, Thai Massage- Jap Sen (Nerve Touch) and Herbal Thai Massage with Lek Chaiya. I was certified in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  In 2003 I went to India, visited many beautiful spiritual sites and sagacious teachers. I spent 3 months studying Ashtanga yoga in Mysore. Serendipity brought me to magical Auroville and Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Tamil Nadu.

In 2004 I moved to Washington DC and trained in Iyengar Yoga with John Schumacher. With great generosity he taught me the clarity of alignment and the amazing power of prananyama (breath). In 2005 I began what has been the most enlightening and resourceful path as a yoga teacher, full of Aha! moments, laughter and fun. Anusara Yoga is so masterful and awe-inspiring that it brings me joyfully to my mat daily. I completed a 350 hour Teacher Training at Willow Street Yoga and continue to study with Anusara's founder, John Friend and his senior teachers.

In 2006 I took my first Acro-yoga workshop (skeptically) with Paige Elenson and have been hooked ever since. The joyful bonding and sense of fun is addictive! In 2008 I completed the AcroYoga teacher certification with co-founders Jason Nemer and Jeny Sauer-Klein.

I am honored to take the seat of the teacher and share the wisdom that has been passed to me. I am blessed to see the beauty students bring to their practice. I bow to the feet of my teachers, my teachers' teachers and my students who are my greatest teachers.
